White Hummingbird
Leucistic (Trochilus polytmus)
Kerrville, Texas
Between July 23 and August 23, 2018, an extremely rare, pure white Leucistic Hummingbird appeared daily near the 77’7” tall “The Empty Cross” sculpture, in The Coming King Sculpture Prayer Garden. Thousands of photos were taken by “Birders” from around the world, including Linda Forse, TCKF Trustee. This bird was not an Albino, since it did
not have pink eyes, beak or feet. It is estimated that less than one in two million hummingbirds have this rare coloration. Weighing less than a nickel, hummingbirds are the smallest of all birds, yet they migrate each year as much as 4,000 miles, from Alaska to Central America, between March and September.
