“Lost Maples” State Natural Area is one of the most popular Texas parks located 52 miles southwest of Kerrville. Tourists from around the world are drawn to the park, which has a stand of Bigtooth Maple trees (Acer grandidentatum.) Artist, Max Greiner, Jr. believes God told him to plant beautfiul Maples along the approach to “The Empty Cross,” in the Garden and name them the “Found Maples.” The native Hill Country trees turn radiant colors, usually in November.
